The NC Opportunity Scholarship provides up to $7,468 per child annually to help families cover private school tuition—that's a lifetime amount totaling up to as much as $96,200 for K-12th. This state-funded program is open to all North Carolina students, with award amounts based on household income. NC Opportunity Scholarship Details
At The Talent School, we are committed to making quality private education accessible to all families. We are pleased to participate in the North Carolina Opportunity Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to eligible students entering K-12th grade. This program offers scholarships to help cover tuition and required fees at participating private schools.

Award Amounts: Scholarships range from approximately $3,360 to $7,468 per student annually, based on household income.

Eligibility: ALL students who live in North Carolina are eligible for an Opportunity Scholarship award regardless of income.

Create a MyPortal Account: Visit MyPortal to create an account and add your students.

Apply: The application period for the 2025–26 school year is from February 6 to March 6, 2025. Applying during this window ensures priority consideration.

Award Notification: Families will receive award notifications between April 1 and April 30, 2025.
Why Homeschool & Co-Op Families Should Apply
If you're a homeschooling family or part of a co-op, the NC Opportunity Scholarship allows you to access the resources and structure of a private school while maintaining the flexibility of home education.

Homeschooling Families: While traditional full-time homeschooling is not eligible for the Opportunity Scholarship, families can explore co-enrollment options. This allows students to benefit from private school resources while maintaining aspects of homeschooling.
